3D Model representing a GNR 9Ton 6 Plank Open Wagon with 9’6″ wheelbase, 15’0″ over headstocks and 5′ doorway.
The model has been broken down into printable parts. Included in the Supported Files directory are the components with supports already added. These have all been proved successfully on an Anycubic Mono X with Anycubic ABS-Like Resin Pro 2. Alternatively the end user may prefer to devise their own orientation and supports to suit their printer and may choose to composite elements into larger printable structures.
The body is provide complete to which a printed floor is passed through the wagon from the top until it rests on the headstocks. Next drill out the axlebox holes 2mm and fix in place then spring in your chosen wheelsets. Finally add a 0.7mm brass brake cross rod having threaded on the two brake mouldings and align them to the wheelsets. Unlike earlier resins the Anycubic Pro 2 is quite tough and is not as brittle so prising the w-irons apart should present no difficulty. Also included in the body print are representations of the buffers complete with buffer heads. Experiments have shown that the stated resin is OK for printed buffer heads however the shank has been thickened to suit.
Also included in the files is an .obj version of the model. This can be imported into your preferred 3D modelling software and individual parts manipulated. For example the moulded buffer heads can be removed leaving buffer bodies suitable for fitting turned steel sprung heads. Likewise an EM/P4 version of the chassis cross members can be substituted. For those feeling adventurous the chassis could be further modified to accept sprung/rocking w-irons to provide some suspension.
Included in the files is a NEM mount. This can be glued behind the buffer beam and is designed to take a Bachmann 36-061 Short Straight NEM Coupling with Pocket.
