The Society keeps members’ names and addresses on a computer database, used solely for membership records and the production of address labels. It is not registered under the Data Protection Act.
You have the right to ask for your details to be removed from the database but this will result in non-receipt of GREAT NORTHERN NEWS and other Society publications.
You also have options regarding the appearance of your details in the published membership list (which is circulated ONLY to Society members). You will be asked to complete a form by the Membership Secretary.
In joining the Society, you agree to abide by the Constitution & Rules. A full copy that includes contact details of committee members and officers is available after you have become a member.
Acceptance of an application for membership shall be at the discretion of the Committee. The Committee reserves the right to reject an application if it considers that the applicant’s membership will be contrary to the best interests of the Society and is under no obligation to disclose the reason(s) for the rejection.
If your membership is rejected, your membership fee will be returned.
