The article has been given a Great Northern Railway bias but describes the GNR’s involvement in the Sutton Bridge Dock … “a real life Victorian melodrama” when on Sunday 12th June 1881 the brand new dock suffered a catastrophic structural collapse which caused it to close after just four weeks of operation, never to re open.
