In my view, this is one of Nock’s better works as it is a very specific subject and therefore it is uncharacteristically detailed in the detail and information imparted to the reader. This book is a good read, as most of his books are, and is packed with detail. If you are interested in the locos of this period, it is a book to grace your shelves. It is out of print but readily available on the online bookstores for secondhand books – eg eBay, abebooks.co.uk or Biblio.co.uk
